First day home sick with the babies

November 17, 2008

Mom, you will be happy to know that I gave in, and stayed home from work today.  I still feel like complete crap, and the day is almost over.  I did end up going to the doctor, but there isn’t much they can do for a pregnant lady with a viral infection.  They actually don’t give antibiotics for upper respiratory infections anyway, so they told me to keep doing what I’m doing – Tylenol Cold and Sinus – yay.  Apparently my thoughts on the ear infection were spot on, but it’s at the tail end of the infection (my ear has been bothering me for about a week now), so they can’t give me any antibiotics that are safe for pregnancy.  My doctor did tell me to put a warm washcloth on my ear if it’s bothering me.  Well, poop.  I don’t think that’s going to do the trick, but I’ll try!

I hadn’t seen my doc since my last physical almost a year ago, so she was a little shocked to see that I had a little baby bump.  Jesus, I thought she was going to cry she was so excited for me – that was nice.  I had forgotten that her best friend did IVF multiple times and it didn’t work, but she started talking about that, and how incredibly lucky we were that it worked on the first try – and I just got the warm fuzzies all over again.  We are lucky!  I’m so glad I decided to stay home today and take care of myself and these little ones.  For the last few weeks, it’s just been go, go, go – and I’m sure it’s just catching up with me.  A little time to realize how important my health (directly impacting BoGo’s health) is to me wasn’t a bad idea at all!  And hopefully I’ll be feeling like my old self come tomorrow morning, because being home sick certainly doesn’t help pay the bills!

I’m sorry you feel yucky. And that sucks that the doctors really can’t do anything. Have some hot tea and get Jeff to rub your shoulders. Happy thoughts that you feel a million times better in the morning!!

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, but am so glad you’re taking care of yourself (and BoGo). Check into using Willow Garlic drops in your ear (my “alternative” ped recommended them to me – it’s a natural antibiotic and pain reliever – but you will smell a little garlicky 😉

I hope you feel better soon!
